A Decision Made of Gold

Last year, when choosing the classes I was to take this year, humanities-inclined as I am, the decision lay between taking Econ or an Arts class.

THANK GOD I CHOSE THE ART CLASS.

I chose Theatre, and it has been one of the most enriching experiences I've been through in the last few years. I haven't acted a whole ton, but I've learned about the magic power of this artistic manifestation; the subtle power of lighting, the message in certain objects, the way of moving and of saying something as a means to declare something.

Honey dearie, if you find yourself torn within the process of choosing classes, I say, take the Art's course. Because you learn a type of things that you wouldn't learn elsewhere. Whereas normal classes? That, you can find anywhere.

Pictures from when we were working with different types of marionettes.

I have a joy of a teacher.

Post of Happy

I have been a lousy blogger as of late. But I have an excuse: Life is making me Happy. Yet it is not the Grand Scheme of things that is making me Happy; it is the tiny details of life that are sending giggles up my spine.

Giggle-some details of my life currently are:

  • Finally wearing dresses and skirts again
  • Having my nails painted (not painting them, as I am a worrisome disaster.)
  • Reading everything (Love in the Time of Cholera, Frida, A History of the Cuban Revolution) and having more to read
  • Chocolate cereals with chocolate milk and chocolate lips
  • Going out, drinking up, making out, staying up
  • Jogging eternally, being more concentrated on the music than the pounding of my heart
  • Brazilian music
  • Strumming my guitar
  • Flirting
  • The city everywhere but in the suburbs
  • Yet even the suburbs are neat enough during the spring
  • Learning
  • Asking the teacher for permission to go to the bathroom and dwindling 10 minutes out on the hallway
  • Doodling on the edges
  • Public transport
  • Sneaking the car out every few days, although I can't legally drive yet
  • Taking my computer to class, pretending to take notes, but on Tumblr instead
  • Smoking on the terrace, on the roof
  • Drinking wine at the Workshop on Thursdays
  • Hugging my Mom
  • Day-dreaming about the future
  • The ring my parents brought to me from Murano
  • Dangly earrings
  • Being straightforward and to hell with it all
  • The colors of my room

That Pair of Jeans

Not without reason does a whole book and movie series exist on the strange powers of the pair of jeans. (I am an unabashed lover of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.)

People talk about your "other half" or your "soul mate," both concepts which I'm not sure of buying into. But I do believe in one magical thing, one thing that must come once in a life time and that is all; in the perfect pair of jeans.

Comfortable, perfectly stylish, fit your butt just right. Don't give the whole world a spectacular viewing of your ass-crack when you kneel down.

And I wore them so much and for so many years, that now they're worn out beyond repair.

RIP jeans.

I went shopping, searching for a tidy replacement, and came home bare-handed.

Lesson of the day?

The Perfect Pair comes only once in a lifetime. Get over it, Ana.

Edited to add: Fuck Lana del Rey, I am a Bastille kinda girl:

The Joy of the Fugitive High School Student

It smells like dog poop, but, nonetheless, it smells of liberty. Begone the grey walls, the grey paper on which I wrote, the grey people and the grey knowledge! Begone. Welcometh me, on a patch of wild grass, with the poppies giggling before me, and the birds chattering enthusiastically around me. Even if it smells like dog poop.

I did not escape for the graffitti, or for the flying insects, or for the gardner who works the land, no, not for the colours, but for the joy of escaping routine's asphixiation. Welcometh dog poop, if it smells like liberty too.

Greetings October

Greetings October.

Greetings to the full advent of spring, to happyness, to a whole load of shit and running, but to doing it all with a smile on my face. Greetings to romping through the school halls without leghose (or whatever you call it) on, to flirting, to sleeping.

Greeetings mostly to spring. The rest? Let's see what will come.
